Please improve object selection for Chamfers

Currently the Chamfer dialog is a bit pants. We should be able to chain edge selections, then deselect unwanted edges, we should also be able to select face to chamfer. It's ridiculous how many clicks we have to make to build chamfers.

Please improve this as soon as you can.

Even Onshape can do face selections:

It's weird that the rule fillet doesn't also cover chamfers (actually I feel like there is a strange / artificial separation between how fillets and chamfers are handled.. it seems like they should be handled by the same tool and that could also add other edge featuring like the lips that cekuhnen asked for in another thread)

I agree, this same separation exists in Inventor. Weird. You may want to vote for this idea though if you agree with it 😉

In addition to the points already raised the iniability to select more than one edge until the chamfer size is set back to zero is a pain in the rear.  Especially in conjunction with the fact that the chamfer tool remebers its last size.  Meaning you must enable the tool, set the size to 0 selected the edges in question and then reset the size again.

Thank you for idea - this is getting moved to solution provided.  Here are the steps to solve the first question.  There was another idea in this post about adding face select to chamfer.  Please create a new Ideastation request for face select in chamfer.  This way we can tie votes to each request.

Q:  Currently the Chamfer dialog is a bit pants. We should be able to chain edge selections, then deselect unwanted edges, we should also be able to select face to chamfer.

A:  You can chain select, uncheck the chain select option in the dialog box and then unselect individual edges.

There was another question in the comments about having to put the chamfer to 0 in order to select additional edges.  You can select additional edges by holding down the command key.

Cheers,

@promm thank you for making this more difficult. My original idea has an image showing face selection. You solution doesn't provide a method to chamfer the edges at both ends of the cylinder. You are more than welcome to duplicate this idea, then edit it if you want each element broken into different ideas.
