Placing Text on a Curved Surface

I'm a newbie in Fusion 360. The model is a ring which will be used to create an injection mold. I want to add a part number to the inner face of the ring, on the center line around the face. The part number will be extruded into the face. My question is simply this: how can I place the text onto this surface?

This thread and several others (use the search function) show how to create a cylinder and add a sketch (or text) to the unrolled cylinder.  I would use a separate body to hold the text, then combine it with the ring.
