Placing a Decal at Correct Scale

Correct Scale

I have a decal which I have designed in illustrator for a bottle design and saved out as .PNG.

The decal is meant to be 30mm tall. My bottle is 55mm tall.

I need to know how to import the decal so it is the absolute correct size on the bottle.

Simple enough you would think. However if I take the advice from other posts and make the decal 30px it comes out very low res.

And even then in imports not really at correct scale. I can manually scale it but that is not very precise.

What is the best tested and true way to get the decal to appear in its actual correct size at hi enough res that it does not look pixelated.

Perhaps I could use a different tool, but I actually just want to place it as a label.

I'm about done with even trying at this point.

2 of the most crucial aspects of what my employ does, can not be handeled by fusion.

Decals and fonts.

I got frustrated about this decal feature after 5 minutes and now I see I'm not the only one.
How can such a simple bug can take 9 years to solve. How difficult is it to respect the basic dimensions.

How difficult is it to free up a developer and solve this, before working on new features.

I'm not sure how much it will help, but an Autodesk employee on the unofficial public Autodesk Fusion 360 Discord server recently added a feature suggestion forum where you can post and vote on ideas. I created a thread called "Make Decals actually parametric and respect the size of the image they are imported from." Hopefully, if it receives enough votes, they'll consider addressing it at some point. It appears that pleading for the improvement of this feature has no effect here.

Here is a link to the thread if you want to vote in favor; it might make them more likely to address the issue.

You might have to join the server and agree to the rules first if the above link doesn't work. Here's a general invite link  https://discord.gg/ppSKqEeRnm.

If you don't want to click on random links, the server is public, and you should easily be able to find the thread just by searching for the title mentioned above.

Hmm... I wonder if direct message/channel/post links don't work if you aren't already part of a server. Here is a general invite link to the server https://discord.gg/ppSKqEeRnm.

I'm glad you noticed!

For others, it's listed in the what's new along with a video demo.

Good news @mark.j  with the latest update, you can now use document meta data (if it exists in the image file) or specify what size you want the decal to be.

Glad to see this has finally been addressed after many many years of begging and pleading.

As a long time paying user its disheartening when the company you purchase your product from doesn't have the slightest desire to fix issues in a timely manner.
