Picket spacing for hand rail

Wondering if anybody could show/explain to me how to create equal spacing using pattern function or another method to achieve my goal. I do alot of shop drawings for hand rail that have multiple pickets so drawing each picket individually is obviously time consuming and tedious. I've looked at a few youtube videos on the pattern function and cant find a video or explanation that solves my problem. In this drawing specifically, I need 3-3/4" space in between each picket. I drew the first two pickets with the spacing I need and cannot figure out how to use the pattern function to create the same 3-3/4" gap in between the pickets. In most cases the space between the end pickets and the posts end up different than the 3-3/4" and that is acceptable as long as the gap is the same on both ends. I think I need to start my picket design and spacing from the center out to achieve that. But for now, I am just curious how to achieve equal spacing between the pickets. TIA.

Instead of Extent, use Spacing equal to the width of the spindle(s) plus the spacing. Set these distances using User Parameters.  You can use functions to determine the number of spindles.  Ceil and Floor can be used to make the number of spindles a whole number.

Won't you want where possible symmetry as per this rough go? Such that the standard hoops (Which I assume you make in a jig) are separated with pickets such that the gap is less than or equal to your 3 3/4"?Screenshot 2023-08-02 181025.jpg

Symmetric Pattern from the Centre of Panel is also an option.  Odd number of objects works best.

Might help....

Yes, every gap throughout (with exceptions to the end pickets) has to be 3-3/4”. Your picture looks exactly what I’m looking for. Do you mind explaining what buttons you pressed to achieve that?
