Performance issues after creating sketch

I have an issue where Fusion360 slows down when operating on a sketch created by a Script. The sketch (after the script has finished) is displayed below. Could someone expain to me what makes this sketch so hard for Fusion 360 to operate on? I expect the cruel pit are the many intersections between the various 'slot' sketches. I am actually only interested in the outer perimeters of the blue sketches. Is there an easy workflow to get rid of all the 'internal' lines in these objects?

Thx for sharing. I've processed the design on my Lenovo T520 from 2011 without any performance problems if it comes to e.g. extruding the CU sketch. Just editing the sketch takes a couple of seconds. The reason for this is, that it's doesn't have any dimensions or constrains. Removing the construction lines would result into an even more unstable / slow design.

  • Always include the origin in your sketch and add dimension and constrain your sketches until all lines are black (the proper way)
  • Fix all sketches to get green lines (the dirty way)
  • Split you sketch in several sketches (that's generally a good advice if you're working with Fusion 360)
  • Don't use slots but lines (again with dimensions and constrains), extrude and thicken and fillet them in the patch / surface workspace and use them as a tool for a combine feature.
