Pattern on a path problem

I'm trying to draw a simple Adirondack style chair as practice using Fusion. I've managed to draw it, making a few mistakes along the way. One thing I can get right though is the seat slats. The first picture shows what I achieve by manually moving components (not right, I know).

I think that the Pattern on a Path command should be the right one, but it's not working for me as I had hoped. If I select the Orientation as Path Direction, I get the effect I see in the second picture, with the slats orientated wrongly, even if they do follow the path.

Can anyone tell me either how I use this command properly, or what other tools I could use to achieve the same?

Thanks

Neil

the quick answer here is that your path is more complex than you want.  Pattern on Path works best if the path start is near to the first instance.  The pattern is indeed following the path, but the path has that sharp bend in it.  You don't want that.  You want a path that is a subset of the edge here.

you could do that using a sketch, and do "include 3D geometry", then I would probably make that a construction curve, and re-fit a second spline to the portion of that curve that you want.

I copied the sketch from the original leg and pasted it into a new sketch, then edited the spline curve to make it just the section I wanted. Worked a treat. Many thanks
