Parametric modeling ?

I have an existing assembly that I would like to paramatize. There are 6 parts in the assembly and each part already has variable dimensions in the "Change Parameters box". To change the assembly means going through each part, changing the dimension, updating it and then updating the assembly, then if this is part of a larger assy, updating that. I am aware that global parameter change is possible if the assembly is drawn in components but in some cases I prefer to draw individual parts and then assemble them. When I do this the data is lost in the assembly "change parameters" box. Cheers Gordon

@PhilProcarioJr,

the nut is only an example. But even there breaking the link is not an option as it means that updates of the model are not only to be done in the template, but in each and every instance.

I know, that the team has much to do. But I think the ability to use designs as templates and customize them by changing parameters is such a big advantage, especially for pros that it should be very high in priority. Just my 2 cents.

Btw. I've asked, if there is some estimation to when the feature will be available.

Greetings

Florian

I understand that the "work around" I posted is not ideal and I like you want this ability. They are aware of the desire to have it and the need for it.

I don't know when this will be able to be added or what prerequisites are needed for it to be implemented so I will let the Dev team answer that.

I do know there is a lot of important stuff being worked on that really needs to be done first so check the idea station and see if it's there and if not add it and I will defiantly vote for it.

Right now we need to inform the Dev team of what we need to do our jobs, add those ideas to the idea station and let them sort out the order in which things get done.

Some things are not simple to add. Just keep that in mind.

Cheers
