Parameter Menu Pop Up Missing

Im and having an issue with my parameters menu poping up. At first I thought it was an issue with my second screen being unplugged and it being hidden off screen or at an edge, I've restarted the computer, program and everything else several times, plugged the monitor to see if it pops up, but I'm not getting anything.

If I hit the parameters button the icon high lights indicating that its active but no dialogue tool menu pops up, to get out of it being highlighted/actived I have to hit esc. I've also tried resetting the layout through the view options in the drop down menu next to the save icon.

I feel like I'm missing something stupid or obvious.....

Hi,

Looks like when you had a second screen with "Extend display" mode, you moved that parameter dialog to the second screen.
Now perhaps you have change the mode to "Duplicate" or "Second Screen Only".

Is that the case?
If yes, then if you again plug in the 2nd screen and "Extend" the display, you should see that dialog box there.

Thanks.

I have the second screen plugged in again and nothing is poping up still. As I stated i've also tried restarting everything with and without the second screen plugged in and no difference

Hi,

You could try to restore the default preferences.

Please note that you will lose any specific "preference" modifications done by you, like default document units, default axis up etc..

Thanks.

Hi,

I hope you have restarted your application after restoring default preferences. If not please restart Fusion application and try.

Thanks.

Is this Windows or Mac OS?

Practice the following procedure on a dialog that you can see. This is a Windows solutions, any dialog will work.

  1. Select Modify > Change Parameters command in Fusion 360
  2. Select ALT + Spacebar on the keyboard
  3. Select M on the keyboard
  4. User arrow cursors to move a the dialog left or right until it appears on screen.

Here's a screencast that shows how it works

If you're on Mac OS, you may try some of the solutions in the below link.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

I had a similar issue.

I was working on my mac at work.  Two screens, parameters could easily have been on the mac screen, with main window on the monitor.

Went home, opened fusion on my PC (single monitor).  Modify Parameters brought up no window.  This PC has never had two monitors ever.

The alt-space/m/arrows managed to fix it after some playing around.  It's a bug, however.  Fusion should recognize currently present desktops and restrict itself to available screens.

That solution worked for me as well.  There is definitely a bug here though, because like the original poster I have not disconnected my second screen.  The position of the parameter window was the only one that was moved off-screen.  All other Fusion pop ups were in their last positions.

I can confirm that if you have two set ups (eg, home and work) and your monitors are in different positions for the two set ups (eg, next to laptop and above laptop if you're using a docking station), the menu will disappear on one of them.

This can be a high impact bug.  I have 4 monitors at work and a laptop at home.  I now suspect that the configuration at work at the time I shut down Fusion may affect the laptop the next day.  Even if I haven't used the laptop in the interim.

I considered that the window might have opened off screen, but mistakenly rejected this explanation, because the laptop doesn't have two screens (and it had been working fine 2 or 3 days ago, and hadn't been used since the last time it did work (e.g., it was not connected to some external monitor)), and because in the task monitor there was no indication of a second window open (something about the type of the window).

I thought I had a corrupted project file ... after a bit of fiddling I discovered that it did it for all projects.

I thought I'd configured the display or windows in some weird way ... Finally figured out how to reset to defaults, nothing.

I thought I had malware ... took a couple of hours to decide that this was unlikely.

I did a simple reinstall ... nothing.

I did a reinstall with manual wiping app-data and roaming ... nothing.

Then I searched for and removed Autodesk stuff from the register file before reinstalling ... nothing.

Then I wondered around the help system with no clear idea what search keywords to try, before finding this thread ... It worked.

Of course, the issue was that it's Christmas and I needed to make a quick fix remotely.  So I had no simple way out, like going to the office or calling someone.  I was counting on being able to access our designs from my laptop in an emergency.  So a 15 min fix turned into 4 or 5 hours of chasing phantom IT problems plus 15 minutes to make the actual fix.

Just a heads up, depending on which language you're using you might have to hit another key than "m", eg. If you have a Swedish installation of windows "m" is minimize while "f" is move.
