I have finished the development phase on a part I make and am moving into the production phase.
To do so, I contacted MiteeBites about various workholding solutions and they helped develop a pallet system to facilitate the process. Their pallet was 12" x 12" and contains a lot of their products, some of which are quite expensive, so on their advise, I started with a test pallet.
I started by inserting the part, adding material to represent the blank size, and then added the MiteeBite components one by one until the test pallet was complete with clearances necessary to complete the machining without interference.
Next, I set an offset plane 1" from the base surface and then sketched a rectangular box to encompass everything. Then I intended to extrude material the full one inch in hopes of having cavities formed where the MiteeBites were at so I could finish them into machinable cavities. I saw a technique someplace on one of the tips or videos from Fusion about mold and form making which described a similar process.
In this case, as the screencast shows, the extrusion simply joins all the materials together into a solid, so next I tried projecting on to the original sketch and was going to process each extrusion separately. Instead, I decided to contact the forum because I am sure I saw a procedure here to do what I'm trying to do without all of the added steps.
My goal is to machine the underlying 1" pallet.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Bob
