Overlapping sketch curves show unsymmetrical selection

Hi,

I made a series of symmetrical sketch curves that overlap, but when I highlight or click on them, the selection is not symmetrical i.e. I cannot selecton smaller sections that I need to perform loft/extrusions later on in my timeline.

I did a screenprint to show what I mean - the highlighted area is not symmetrical when it should be.

This is what I am trying to achieve below - I need to Loft on the right side of the sketch too, but the above issue means I cannot select the areas I need.

You can see that when I try the same on the right side of the sketch with a new loft, I cannot select the same small area at each level.  Any thoughts please on how to resolve this?

Hi,

If you say what you want to achieve in the end and upload pictures of a real existing object and the file here, one could say something more specific about it.

I've pasted a few more pictures and written what I am trying to achieve - a loft on both sides of the sketch, but cannot.

Hi,

Without using the crystal ball, help will hardly be possible. Why don't you post pictures of a (similar) real object and the file to here?

I have found out what is causing the problem.  If I zoom into the curves to the maximum possible, I can see that they are not closed.  But when I try to fit them together using Constraints, Extend tool etc, that doesn't work.

This curve was originally created by offsetting a previous curve by 5mm, and that curve itself was the originally the edge of a split face:

The outer curve is from the interior edge of the split face, and the inner curve is the curve that I created using the offset tool.  Is there a way I can resolve this, or is it a bug?

My sketch curves are not closed, that is the cause of the problem.

I need to find a way to close them (see post with new picture)...

Hi,

This is solvable.
But the screenshots and your  explanations unfortunately do not provide a basis for the solution.

I have got around it by mirroring the first loft on the left side to the right side.  At the end of the day, the symmetrical loft was what I wanted as a result anyway.

Thanks for your comments, but I am not in the habit of invalidating a potential design patent or risking my intellectual property by posting my design file for all and sundry to see in what is a public forum.

Hi,

Help with design tasks is not possible without useful information.
Unfortunately, your screenshots did not provide a basis for an assessment.
