I would be helpful If you created a screencast and perhaps also share the file.

Hi @Felipe.G,

If you could post an image or an Autodesk Screencast showing the issue, I would be more than happy to help!

Hi @Felipe.G,

I think I may know how to solve your issue, but could you post an Autodesk Screencast, detailing your workflow from the importing of the STEP file to the creation of the sketch in your pictures? I just want to make sure that the advice I give will get you exactly what you need.

Thanks,

Got the screencast, you can see if i use an inclined plane to put an sketch on it, the sketch origin is off center from the World Origin, I'm trying to work in a boat and need all parts basically to be referenced to the same origin.

Thank you

I did this without using the step file and i was able to re-create the same situation, basically working in an angled plane for some reason moves the Origin of the sketch off center

Hi @Felipe.G,

I was able to reproduce this behavior and I have logged a defect with the development team, as this does not appear to be intended behavior. The reference number is FUS-25516.

For now, to get you back on track, you could try projecting the origin into the sketch you are working on and use that to sketch/constrain/dimension your design accordingly.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi Felipe,

Sorry to hear that this behavior has caused you some trouble.

Currently a new sketch on a work plane will set the origin of sketch to the center of work plane, there are two separate coordinate system for the 3D environment and sketch. Some users want current behavior especially when the work plane is far from the world origin or the new sketch is not related to it. I can understand your need and we will review and discuss on this.

Here's a work-around may be working for now, since creating a sketch on a face will keep the sketch origin the same as the world origin, so just create a new box on the work plane and create a new sketch on the box's face. Delete the box if you are not using timeline(history capture), otherwise it will give you warnings and cause you trouble when you try to edit history later.

Thank you,
Sty

Exactly same problem as Filipe.G (original poster).  STEP file was positioned at world coordinate 0,0,0 as verified by other cad systems yet have this phantom origin turning up and can't get rid of it.
