Organic Shapes / Lofting with Guide Rails

Hi All, 

 

Been using Fusion to render skatepark designs, and I often run into issues trying to blend together certain shapes...

usually the ones that change elevation or taper for instance.

 

I can't seem to figure out how to use multiple guide rails in a loft either, if anyone's got any advice it'd be greatly appreciated!

I've attached some screen grabs to show what I mean. I can't seem to blend together the top slab with the bottom.

I am not even sure why that would need to be lofted. Instead of woking with an already thickened solid body, I'd create this whole structure with surfaces lofts and patches, stitch it together and then thicken it as a whole.

 

Can you share that design ? (export as .f3d and attach)

Are there any unresolved issues indicated in your Timeline?

Can you File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here?

the problem here is that the rails must be tangent continuous.  Loft works really well for 4-sided areas.  Yours has 5.  So, one way to work around this (many other ways exist, I'm sure), is to just combine a couple of them to get to that 4-sided geometry.

 

I'm not really certain why you are modeling each piece here as a separate component, but I stuck with that by putting the new body into its own component.  Here's a screencast:

Thank you I will try that. 

I make each section a new component out of habit, so as to be able to go back and edit individual sections of the park, never really was sure what the distinction between a new body and component was, I taught myself how to use fusion off youtube and found it useful for workflow.

I've re-created you design using a different approach with a much shorted timeline.

I took some "creative liberties" in the corner highlighted in red. I should be good enough or a rendering, but for a production design I would not create such a loft.

 

Go through the timeline and see what you can make of it, the model is attached.
