Offset for threaded holes

Am I missing something, or does this only allow the threads to start from the top of the hole? 

I want to make a 30mm deep M6x1 threaded hole with only the bottom half of the hole threaded. 

I try to do an offset thread, but I can only make the threaded portion extend from the top of the whole.

To do what you want, you will create your modeled 6mm hole and then use the Thread tool to add your threads.  The Animated GIF will illustrate.
