Offset extrusion of existing pipe component

Hello,

I want to create a type of cover that snap fits over this existing pipe loop component. I have created the offset but not sure how I can make it semi-extruded as opposed to being a solid pipe (using the create -> pipe feature).

I've attached an example of what I want to do but would prefer the 'slit' (opening to be bigger = customizable).

How would I go about doing this? I'm thinking revolve but then I would need to create a sketch of the cross section. Is there any easier solution?

That's awesome, thank you. Yeah, sketching the cross section and then sweeping around the pipe path is exactly what I should have done.
