Offline Migration Issue

As you all know, we deployed an update to Fusion 360 a few hours back.  We detected an issue with data you may have created while offline during the maintenance window.  Once you came back online and updated the Fusion 360 client, you may have noticed that your offline data became unusable.  We have deployed a fix to stop the problem from occurring, so anyone that updated their Fusion 360 client after 7:25 AM UTC on Sunday, May 8, 2016 should not have this problem.

I would also like to inform you that for those users whose data was impacted, the data is not lost.  We are working on fixing the data, but it will take a few hours to restore it after which you will be able to open it from the Data Panel.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will keep you updated on the data fix up.

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal

(on behalf of the Fusion 360 Team)

Hi Sanjay, thank you for this update.

All my data panel is empty (online), it still shows like it synchronizing but it the same rotating icon for about three hours, it is from the last update and i can reach any of my files.

Is it the same problem as you mention above?

Hi Gil,

The problem I described is only if you created data while you were offline during our maintenance window.  Looks like that might not be the case with you.  If you restart Fusion 360 do you still see the same spinner in the Data Panel?

Sanjay Jayabal.

Thank you for your replay,

I tried to restart a few times in a few computers, my demo data file is uploaded and OK but when i go to my main data file (a lot of projects) it stuck in the same position and all the data panel is empty, i can't reach any of my working files.

I never worked offline but after the new update was done i got a message in startup that fusion need to backup the offline files or something like this.

Thank you for your help,

Gilad

I was going to ask you if you can click on Recent Data and then go back to your project?  Does it still show the spinner then?

hi giladt2008,

Seems there is something wrong in your local cache data. You may have a try to clear your cache for resolving this issue.

BUT, be careful, make sure there is NO any unsaved data (to cloud) which you want to remain.

By the way, before you clear your cache data, "Diagnostic Log Files" and send the zip file to us for investigating is much appreciate!

Hope it could help you.

Regards,

Gavin

One last thing you could try is,

1. Close Fusion 360.

2. Browse to %localappdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360.

3. Open the folder that has an alphanumeric name such as 7FGVLEAL2QDJ.

4. Delete the file called NsCloudBrowserCache_myhub.dat

5. Restart Fusion 360.

If that doesn't work, would you mind inviting me to the project?  If after opening the project, you are able to click on the People tab, you can invite me - sanjay.jayabal@autodesk.com.

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal.

Hi Gavin,

Please find the diagnostic file.

I am not sure to understand, all my works is saved over the cloud, i am not saving fusion formats on my desktop, is it safe for me to clear the cache?

yes giladt2008, it's safe to clear local cache for you now. Just make sure you will not lose any data before doing it. And thank you for attaching dianostic files.

Gavin

Hi Gil,

It did take a few minutes (about 4 minutes) but your project loaded in the Data Panel.  While the spinner is going, can you click inside your data panel and on your keyboard hit Fn+F5?  Wait for about 5 minutes to see if it loads.

Is there any update on the progess of this issue ?

I worked on a file (discussed in this thread) in offline mode last night and once I updated somewhere around 7:30AM - 8:00 AM EST the work I did on that file last night ( about 4h ) is gone and I am back to the version of the file before Fusion 360 went offline.

Hey Peter - I believe the issue should have been resolved by now, so would you mind providing your logs so we can investigate?  Also, can you see the design if you go Offline again?

I switched into offline mode just now, but the file is the same old version as in online mode.

My log files are attached.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Peter,

Do you recall roughly around what time you saved your changes in offline mode?  Also, did you see your modifications reflected in the Data Panel?  Based on initial investigation by the team, here is something to try - can you search for the file 'Workbench.3984567e-72de-481f-bbf0-33f622d1c59f.f3d' on your local disk?  If it is found, it is likely your latest version.  You can then import it as a new version on top of your old one.

Sanjay Jayabal.

Hi Peter,

Quick update.  The file should be under - ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/YRNHMDMW8UZ8/W.login/F.

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal.
