offline and cant convert to mesh or stl

yet again there is an outage. and fusion cant export a mesh or convert to stl.

i ran across this when traveling and out of internet access.

is there no way to get this function locally? here lately it becomes more and moreof an issue.

for a short time the convert to mesh option actually worked. but that last a few days.

with the software currently experiencing an outage. which happens on the day i finished some designs and planned to send to the 3d prineter.

any other format to export to another software to do the conversion? or getting the software to do it locally?

thanks Brian A.

@dieselguy65

I never use the on-line conversion as it is slow and doesn’t offer as many options as local conversion.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

i will try to get it attached. i have never known of any other option to get an stl file from fusion. i just save the stl then open in s3d.

Simply right click on the body in the browser and select Save as Mesh...

maybe this time it atached

 can you explain how you get to output an stl file? while offline. or using some other software. this is a huge downside to an otherwise great software.

that does not work. as i mentioned in my original post. only works if i am online.

Don't know what to say.

I just tried it on my machine and it worked like it always does.

Loaded up the file.

Went off-line.

Right clicked on the body as instructed in original response.

Saved as Mesh...

Read the file back in...

Can you post screenshots of each of your individual steps?

no idea how to do screenshots. but am literally right click on the body in  the directory tree. select save as mesh. and get 3 error messages that it failed. every time

works fine when online.

does not work offline at all.

and doing that or clicking 3d print gives me the same output. when online.

am i missing somepart of my software that allows local stl conversion?

@dieselguy65

Are you on Windows OS or on a Mac OS?

If Windows then simply Shift Win S for screen capture and Ctrl v to paste here.

I suspect there is a similar screen capture technique on Mac OS.

Google should turn up the Mac technique.

so i found this. seems to be an ongoing problem. as long as you never save the file it may work. i am going to try this saving and reopening locally as a work around for today. seems they havent truly solved the issure. years later

@wersy

I have left my machine and can’t test the issue as described in the reference linked by @dieselguy65 .

1. While off-line click Save.

2. Now try to right click on the body and Save as Mesh.

@TheCADWhisperer

Now I have the same problem, if I save first I can't export stl.

That work around mentioned in the other thread worked. Export f3d locally.
Then open that in a new file and don't save it. Now I can translate that
to stl.
Crazy way to have to do it. I think that problem was mentioned 5 yrs ago.
I never found that thread before when doing searches.
It's going to make for a long day this way. But at least I can get files
out
