November Update doesn't install on OS X

When I clicked the update button, the loading window appeared and disappeared before it started loading anything. I tried this several times but to no avail. I decided to make a clean install and that didn't work either: when I double click the install icon (Autodesk Client Downloader), it looks like the installer is starting, but then it just disappears and nothing happens.

Luckily I have also a PC and the latest version works fine on Windows 10, so I'm not in desperate situation (yet) šŸ™‚

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)

Hi Ting,

Please set the traditional English as your primary language, rather than other types of English, such as English (U.K.).

  1. Add English to your preferred language.

I would argue that since I am in England, English (UK) is traditional English Smiley Very Happy

Nevertheless, this seems to have solved ā€“ thanks.

Hi, as per Kevin's  email to me, you can change back to English (U.K.) after you updated or installed Fusion 360.  They will revise the program to fix this at a later update., I hope!

That is the fun part of Fusion360. After all these updates, I meant ALL OF THEM, there were problems and they had to fix them a few times.  It is lots of fun!  I guess it must be some kind of training for us like "Fishing" in ancient time". Could be a built in "Philosophical" feature!

Hi,

We will fix the issue in the next release, but the fix will only be available for fresh install, rather than live update. Because for live update, the fix happens before delegating to the new installer code, so it will be available in the next+ release. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Ting.

I accepted changing the language preference as a solution, since apparently it works at least for some people and I can't test it because I did a clean install earlier. The latest update installed without any problems by the way.

Thanks everyone.

Hi, thanks for replying here. In fact it is working now. I already changed back to English US, and English on the second roll. So the next update we should uninstall then download to install again?

It is fine, I will remember that.

Have a nice day!

Hi,

No, you don’t need to uninstall Fusion.

For live update case, you just need to change back to English before the live update.

Change back to English on the first roll -> Live update -> Change back to any language you prefer on the first roll.

After the next release, above operations are not needed any more.

For fresh install case, no extra operation is needed in the next release.

Thanks,

Ting Lu

Hi thanks for your response. I just updated the OSX again today. I am not sure whether that  fixed the language problem or not. One thing for sure, since all my programs were installed using English US, some have problems loading when using English,  or English US, with English on the second roll before this morning's update.

For example, Sugarsync cloud service failed to load with English US and English (2nd roll).  But then before the OSX update this morning, Sugarsync was always having a bit of problem with El Capitan.

Maybe this new OSX update solved some of these problems.

Anyway, I will do a fresh install in the next update if it does not work with English US. This El Capitan is acting quite strangely to speak the truth. Also the iphone update solved the constantly flashing dialog box for icloud ID.

Apple seems to have lots of unstable updates lately.
