So, I am working on a mechanism that will be used to dispense dog treats, opening a door via a "nautilus shell shaped, cylinder?" think Fibonacci yeaaaa that shape lol. I'm trying to animate the parts of the mechanism in 360 to test before I print them, but I am having troubles getting the 2 faces that will be contact surfaces between the door and rotating door activator to interact with one another.  not sure how to upload a video or screen shot of the model I have a at the moment.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Please attach your model so the forum users can troubleshoot it for you.  If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

I believe your hierarchy is incorrect.

The red wheel body should be in its own component, but is a body in an Assembly.

Not sure if you can fix it from here, and I have run out of time for today.

Other might help when chiming in...

I agree with @davebYYPCU , the bodies living at the same level as components in the browser structure causes all sorts of confusing things with joints.  you can sorta rig this model to work after the fact.  see attached model.

prob better to try again and either start with separate components (usual way, best way in this case), or wait till the end and convert bodies to components then.  either way be careful of the browser tree structure.

also not good practice to use moves and position captures to define component location for the purpose of using an as-built joint.   components are either built in place (and joined with as built joints) or moved into position via a regular joint.  moves and position captures used in conjunction with as-built joints tend to muck up the works.

Thanks for the help guys, i've been learning how to use fusion for the last 9 or so months and feel like im doing pretty well with making single one piece things that i need, but this is the first assebly that im trying to create, is there a good video that i can watch about creating the proper hierarchy in my browser tree?  Also, DavebYYPCU how did you color code all the components and bodies the way you did above?

Thanks again for the help, definitely appreciate it 🙂

Each and every sketch should be fully defined.

Especially Sketch1.

This is the most basic foundation principle in all of parametric design.
