Hi i have a new macbook pro i5 2.9 8gb ram, i'm drawing aluminum profile box, each stick is long 130 cm, wich is the right method to use this object for to use at best the resources of the computer?

I have done all bodies but it was slow, i have done all of components as you can see on the attach file, but is slow when i orbit and i zoom, how can i do to perform better the draw?

Really thanksSchermata 2018-02-16 alle 10.25.22.png

Hi,

This sounds like a graphics issue. Can you run the graphics diagnostic, found under the Help menu, and copy/paste the results here?

Also, please describe your monitor set up. Are you using only the built in monitor, or an external monitor, or both?

Thanks,

Hi,

You are using integrated graphics, rather than a dedicated card. Does your computer have an NVIDIA or AMD dedicated GPU?

One thing you could try is using Graphics Diagnostic to turn off all graphics effects, it's a check box near the bottom of the dialog. Please try that and let me know if you see any improvement.

Also, can you reply if you are using a dual monitor setup.

Hi

Try changing the driver API to DirextX if possible. To give you a comparison

I am running Win10 on a Athlon II X2 1666MHz with an  ATI Radeon HD 4200 512MB integrated graphics memory and 3GB RAM.(2.5GB)

Whilst I am only a hobbyist I am modelling an alternator with custom brackets, bolts, washers, pulleys spacers etc. I have hit about thirty+ components all modelled in 3D an only now is speed becoming an issue which is obvious by a jerky screen.

The thing I notice is even if I Sketch one line as a new design the cursor and snaps lag behind what you would expect,  and it still lag behind with the above - it hasn't changed.

It isn't possible. The OpenGL settings are only available on macOS, which does not support DirectX 😉

@AnonymousI have this set to OpenGL Core Profile (for reasons I don't remember). Maybe @Phil.E can help explaining wha the differences are.

In general, turning off all the graphics images Fusiosn 360 uses is definitely going to help. Ambient Occlusion and Antiliasing use quite a bit if resources.

I need to ask around about the difference. The most important thing you mentioned, turning off effects. After that, @Anonymous please let us know if "OpenGL core profile" helps too!

Thanks,

Hi,

I've had the same problem. Are the profiles Bosch Rexroth? it is normal to have problems with Intel integrated graphics.

Try entering BIOS to dedicate more RAM to intel graphics (google it how to first).

Disable ALL graphics effects. It will be slow and laggy nevertheless. Those profiles have a lot of lines to draw and select. I recommend making the component unselectable once you've finished it.

Really thanks @TrippyLighting now the visualization is better, and is not impression i can rally see a significant improvement  @Phil.E i set turning off effects and i use two monitor, one of my macbook pro and one external.

Only one little thing, @dean.dekovic_gideon.brothers what do you mean when you write:  Those profiles have a lot of lines to draw and select. I recommend making the component unselectable once you've finished it

This is essential information! What that means that your on-board GPU, which is already limited in performance hast p feed 2 monitors and thus hs to split it's memory to feed 2monitors.

I bet your viewport performance in Fusion 360 is going tp drastically increase if you use only one monitor.

This is a Bosch profile. it has a lot of segments (attached you can see a sketch with edges projected just to see the complexity of the geometry). I suppose that if you hover the mouse over it, Fusion has to do a lot of graphics calculation to enable highlight and selection. This selectable/unselectable option is a result of my experience with a component made up out of 20+ profiles. Everything was faster once I've disabled selection on this component.

Yes, viewport performance is definitely enhanced by that. Fusion 360 searches for selectable entities in a cone volume protruding from the mouse cursor. The more geometry and "stuff" that is selectable in that volume, the more Fusion 360 has to work, sometimes resulting in perceivable lag.

You should watch @Phil.E's great AU class recording on Large Model Management in Fusion 360
