Noob Question:2D to 3D

So, I have drawn stuff in AutoCAD, 2D. Hoping to put them into fusion and model them in 3D.

All parts will be sheet metal and will have several simple folds.

Problem is I cannot seem to get the 2D drawings to work in fusion; when converted to sheet metal the proposed “bend lines” disappear and it becomes a solid shape.

It seems that the only way I can make the shape I want (bumper for a vehicle) is to have several flat drawings that are all imported one by one and then kind of joined together?

I’m very new to this and obviously missing something important haha 😂

pic for reference on what I am trying to make in 3D (bumper for my truck)

Cheers guys

Save your drawings as DXF format, these will import at correct size, but stripped of dimensions and constraints - if any.

As Sheetmetal flanges function with single line input, you may find it better to start fresh in Fusion and inputting known dimensions.

Might help…

Hey mate,

yeah I’ve redrawn it all in fusion and seems to be working out now lol.

Only thing I’m stuck on now is the flanges;

can you remove material off them?

Will attach some pics for ref

Difficult to understand what you mean, there is split body, delete face in some cases, extrude cut etc.

Might help….
