Newbie Question about file for plasma cutting

I've had little issue creating files myself for plasma cutting, but I am little confused when dealing with files others have created. For example, the Navy logo (attached) which I downloaded off the net, when I go to Cutting and try to select the geometry, my only option is to select the 100's of components that make up the image. I assume the image needs to be traced in another program maybe? The file I downloaded come in cdr, dwg, dxf and svg formats. I have the full adobe suite, inkscape etc, but I just don't know how to preprocess files to optimize for export to a plasma cutter. Any help is appreciated.

You want to select the Sketch from the Browser to set up your toolpath for cutting, not the sketch entities from the image.  Take a look at the video.

If my Forum post solved your question, please select the "Accept Solution" icon to do three things. First it allows others to find a solution to a similar question, two, it closes the Forum post and last, it acknowledges that you accept the solution given. If you need further help, please ask. If you like to read why "Accept Solutions are important, take a look at this webpage.

John, can't tell you how much I appreciate it! That worked like a charm. I couldn't figure this out for the life of me. 🙂

It is customary to select the "Accept Solution" on the post that solved your Forum question, not on your reply that it worked.  I took care of it for you this time and switched it.  Keep this in mind next time you post to the Forum.

Thanks for the note telling me how it worked out.
