it looks like one of your bodies is a mesh body.  Combine only works on solid bodies.  You will have to convert the mesh body to a solid BRep in order to combine them.  You can also combine 2 mesh bodies, in the Mesh toolset, if both are meshes.

Can you share the mesh file?

You might have to zip it before attaching it to a post.

I have gone through a tutorial on turning the mesh into a solid (tutorial link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-t...

it resulted in a bunch of lines covering the shape of the original mesh. is there a way for me to get like a solid in one piece?

Thank you for helping me and merry Christmas!

Converting this mesh into a BRep is not a good workflow for the reasons you describe.

Also, none of the sides is aligned with any of the origin planes.

I would completely redesign this from scratch using the native tools in Fusion 360.

Here's a start. If you can explain what you want to do with the result, tha would help.

I am not familiar with fusion but my ultimate goal for this is to make a case based on the existing model. What I am trying to achieve is to convert the mesh model to solid and subtract it to a bigger solid.

My guess is that without getting familiar with Fusion 360, your ultimate goal might just be wishful thinking.

So download the model I had attached to my post, open it with Fusion 360 and see how it was constructed.

Then, you can decide how to move forward and provide some feedback.
