nesting assembly to flat and then making the tool path

hi,

I am working with flat stock plywood, making furniture. is there easy way to convert assembly to flat to layout on a 4X8 sheet plywood without exporting facing to dxf and make it work in autocad.

idea is to get the software to lay all pieces flat, so I can place them in a 4X8 plywood and creat the tool path!

is it possible?

Thanks

Hi there, I haven't really needed to do this myself yet and am not sure why you're trying to avoid the conventional route, but one approach I just tried is to get the sketches you need, often by creating a new sketch on the face of some body, resulting in that face being projected into the new sketch.  Then you can right click on sketches in the browser and choose Redefine Sketch Plane, and redefine all then necessary sketches to the same plane, such as the XY plane for instance.  The sketch elements will be turned green, but they can be quickly unfixed via entering the sketch, choosing the Fix/Unfix constraint button, and doing a drag selection box.  Once unfixed, you can move the sketch geometry inside or outside of the sketch via the Move tool (must choose the sketch geometry selection option), to translate and rotate the sketch geometry as desired to get all the sketches to fit together well.

Would be interesting if you get this method to work, as it's definitely more direct in some ways, if you intent to then use Fusion 360 CAM, such as to trace the sketch geometries.

The method Jesse describes certainly works and I've used it myself to get shapes water jet cut. I created a new sketch with a 8'x4' frame and arranged the projected sketches of the shapes so they all would all fit nicely onto an 8'x4' sheet.
However, that resulting sketch was then exported to .dxf and sent to the company that cut the shapes for me.

I am not sure based on your short message what functionality you expect that would avoid some form of export.
