Need some guidance with surface design

Hi all, hope you all are safe! I am not sure this is the correct thread for my question so pardon me if I'm in the wrong place. I need some help with surface design of a part in Fusion 360 which you can see in the attachment.

I have the density of the material and the target weight. It is a molded PU foam part. I have the height and width of the part so I will need to adjust the thickness few times to get to my target weight.

The problem is the thickness is not uniform across the whole part. It is thicker at the center and tapers down at the edges. So I would like to ask how should I design the part such that I can change the thickness can be altered without affecting the rest of the part.

Any tips or tricks welcome 🙂
