Need help understanding face + object snap

I'm trying to make a mask using the face command in the sculpt environment following a tutorial on Youtube.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I'm having trouble getting the vertices to snap to the dummy head I've made. The dummy head is a surface with no thickness. It seems to be snapping to the sketch instead despite previous faces snapping to the dummy. Similar issue for the nose part as well, with some snapping to the head while one snapped to the nose. Would appreciate any guidance on what I'm doing wrong.

Can you provide a link to that tutorial?

I am going out on a limb and say that we can possibly propose better workflows 😉

Here's the link. The part where he does this is around 10:48 in the video.

You'll have to finish the form for the head and create a new form for the mask. Then, when turning on that object snap option in the face creation dialogue it will snape to the surface of the head.

When the Author of that video says that he creates triangles when he cannot make ta box that is a bad, bad technique. Do not use triangles in T-splines. Ever!

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying. I tried what you recommended and managed to get the result I wanted. However, I still have some questions.

1) When you said that I have to finish form for the head, does it matter if it's a solid body/surface? I've had no issues with getting it to snap to the surface so I was wondering if there's a difference I was unaware of.

2) When using the face command with object snap enabled, I noticed that the cursor would sometimes snap onto the sketch instead of the surface. So if I want to model something using a sketch as a guide, I would have to click close to the sketch line but not on it. So I would like to know if there any way to prevent snapping onto the sketch during face creation?
