Need Help on Thicken a reverse engineered surface/body

Hi guys

 

i have a serious problem. The data has been obtained through 3d scan and has been automatically "reverse engineered" by Fusion 360.

now i want the piece to be 1.5mm thickness. however. all tools made to do this fail and give me errors.

I checked your file.

 

1. shelling is an extremely sensitive task - which works bets with simple geometry

2. your object is way to complex for shelling it tho - it is pretty messy

 

do you have access to a polygon model? This might be a task to shell with a polygon workflow rather than NURBS.

Hi,

 

Are you interested in getting something like that? (see attached).  If so, the shell is 1.5mm

I used a different software but you should be able to get the same result arranging a better t-spline layout in Fusion 360. I guess that the best way is to redesign the layout manually.

thanks for the reply.

I had to solve it manually in Rhino Mac. Was quite a load of work.

 

my client wants solid step data.

so no poligon models possible.


the data has been made by 3D Scan. so yes, there was a poligonal model in the beginning.

It then went through the "reverse engineering" in Fusion 360 to automatically obtain a non-poligon surface model.

I tried to thicken that resulting surface geometry.
