Need Help Modifying Elipse Design

Hello, I am new to Fusion 360 and learning by doing and from tutorials. I have an elipse design that will become part of an AC vent duct, but I would like to add a brief flat profile to the sides of the elipse where I have drawn the sketch lines in the attached picture. Any advice on how to proceed is appreciated. I have looked over all of the command tools both don't know how to proceed. Thanks in advance for any help.Center Vent Elipse v2.jpg

You did not supply your model so I am guessing what you really want.  Always supply your model and a clear description of what you are trying to achieve.  The Screencast shows my method, it can be done other ways but I wanted to make it as clear as possible.  Model is attached.

Here's a screencast showing a slightly different method of creating the lines use to cut and extrude the flat area.  It's based on @jhackney1972 's fine example😀

There is an even simpler way which is to simply move the Timeline (you are using the Timeline aren't you?) back to the sketch you used to create the initial form.  Draw the lines on that sketch. Move the Timeline to the end.  Edit the Extrusion feature to exclude the top flat and include the bottom flat.

Thank you very much for that tutorial, it is exactly what I am trying to do. I will follow it to duplicate with my dimensions, and I will supply the model from now on. Thx again.
