Need Alternative to Fusion 360 (That works 100% offline)

I love Fusion 360, but it is just not reliable. We are full-time on a boat an sometimes we don't have internet connectivity. Fusion 360 is SO reliant on having a connection, most of the time I can't use it... sometimes it works offline, but most of the time it prompts me to authenticate (which I can't always do).

Any recommendations as to an alternative to Fusion 360?

The question is what functionality do you expect from that alternative.

What are the must haves, the key essentials and what a re the nice to haves but not really needed features ?

It needs to work offline and not require periodic connectivity... that's all. I can work around everything else.

Obviously I beed to be able to create drawings and 3 dimensional parts -- or it wouldn't be an alternative to Fusion 360.

Another key detail is what price point your looking at....

Let's not worry about price, unless it's over $5,000.

Just need a alternative that works. I keep on paying monthly subscription fees for something that doesn't open when I need it to.

Hi,

Sounds like you should consider Inventor. Please let me know if you have any questions.

@Phil.E How long before Inventor becomes dependent on the internet?

I don't take that as a rhetorical question- is cloud-based the intended destination for most all AD products?

Not trying to pass the buck, but the question of the future of Inventor is probably best asked on the Inventor forum:   https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/bd-p/78

  1. FreeCAD might be something for you. Its free, open source but still has a nice interface and strong tools. It may not be as advanced as Inventor or even Fusion but its continously developed and good to have as an alternative. Wont cost you a penny to try 🙂

Inventor then. Very similar "big brother" to Fusion. You will be immediately familiar with the interface.

Actually fusion360 is a cloud software where everything is stored is cloud so that, if any thing goes wrong while working on it will not be lost, hence the software is internet connected, I think!!!!

You are correct. Fusion uses the internet to store data and do heavy computing operations like rendering or simulations (and a much more). Any activity outside of saving design data requires cloud credits so you pay for the heavy computing only if you need it.

AUTODESK INVENTOR may help you in this situation.

For offline use, I suggest you Autodesk Inventor Pro. It serves most of the features of fusion with more documentation capabilities, step by step designs and very preferable for big projects. It is also offline use software.

Good luck.
