move a sketch

Sometimes I can use the Move command to move or rotate a sketch. Sometimes I can manipulate the move controls but the sketch remains the same. Nothing happens.
Additionally I am pressing Enter at the moment shown, but nothing happens. At the time I took this screen shot I had hit the Enter button repeatedly.
Obviously some parameters have been changed here. Can someone illuminate this situation?

Could you possible share an .f3d of the component? I suspect this case has a coincident on the blackend point on the left of the sketch profile that is the hang up.

The dialog in the imaged doesn't show anything selected other than the axis.

If you're trying to rotate the entire sketch off of its original plane, it might be necessary to create a plane that is at a 45 degree angle from the edge you selected as an axis and redefine the sketch to be on that plane. To do this you'll also need to make sure that you use the timeline to set that plane up before that sketch exists in the timeline.

In the screencast you'll see a sketch rotating around what I am perceiving to be a constrained point in the sketch plane. If a second point has a constraint to an edge on that plane it might not rotate.

I very much appreciate your response. I am just starting out and I have recently realized a few errors I have been making with my methodology, like "starting" a sketch, "ending" a sketch, and so forth. Things are starting to come together much easier now.

Yes I just watched a tutorial explaining this technique and its another idea I should explore. THANK YOU.

In your picture, it appears that you are trying to ROTATE a sketch off of the PLANE it is associated with. Well, think about that. What you really want to do is to rotate the plane (if it was constructed "at an angle") or associate that sketch to a different plane that is already at the angle you want.

I mean, you could rotate the sketch ELEMENTS (while you're inside the Edit Sketch mode) away from that plane, but then it would be a 3D sketch and the profile wouldn't be recognized/usable.
