Modeling a Racing Seat

Ok. Small project for my Rc Drift car. Im a noob at Cad/Cam so bear with me please! I've been watching tutorials up the kazoo so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Trying to model this seat. I import the canvas, and then sketch on top. I created a line around half of the pic, and then mirror. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Not sure why. Then I extrude it. I then run into problems. I feel like I should just upload my file so someone can tell me where I'm going wrong. Was thinking maybe I should be using Sculpt instead? I was able to 3d print one out so I at least know my design did work! lol

Anyway. Would like to model this seat so it curves a little at the back. I do have some other 2-views of some seats I would like to try. I need the seat 67.5mm high, and 48.5mm wide.

Can you elaborate a bit on the problems?

For the width and height, you can calibrate your canvas by right clicking on it and selecting "calibrate".  That should be the first thing you do after bringing it in.  But this does look like a good project for the sculpt environment.

This design is different than yours, but might give some ideas.
