Model is fully constrained but won't scale without messing up...Help

Hey y'all take a look at my attached model. Although it's fully constrained, if I try to change the dimensions of the outer and inner ring, the hinge position messes up. Also, I think the hole for the screw that joins the two pieces as well messes up. Can you provide a little assistance and let me know what's going on here as this collar needs to grow or shrink depending on what size hose we're putting through it and every time I have to change the size of the hose, I have to readjust the hinge on both the top and bottom rings.

Thanks in advance for any help.

See attached. No guarantees it's perfect as I didn't spend much time on it, but just a quick test shows it to be working with reasonable changes to the ID and OD. I'd recommend checking your full range of sizes.

I added two parameters to drive the shape change: clamp_OD, and clamp_ID. I saw that you have two independent sketches for the Top Ring and Bottom Ring, where you basically had each ring size defined twice; I'm wondering if this is what was causing you issues. I updated the sketches to reference these variables, so you can just change the size in one place via the parameters menu.

I changed your fastener counter-bore extrude to go through "all" as increasing the OD caused it to be buried in the ring.

I also added another planar constraint, as your rings were able to translate in the Z direction.

Hi Michael,

Could you elaborate what "Scale" you mean here? Are you using Scale command or you change the collar diameter? I would like to know the exact steps to reproduce the behavior.

Many thanks!

When I go to scale, I wanna be able to change the ring size. Changing this manually as the way I do it and don’t use any configuration table or anything. So an example would be if the inside diameter of the ring is 27 mm and I want to scale it up to 40 mm in the past I would have to re-position the hinge for both pieces top and bottom because it would slide on me. I’m sure it’s a simple fix whereas something‘s not anchored correctly or something like that. I hope that helps.

Did you look through the model timeline @bwalker145 posted? Did that work?

Yes, that did work for me.  thanks.

Nice work. I still need to do a bit of cleanup on it as I think I can better the design a bit now that I understand what this issue was. Thanks again.
