Mirror objects and components

Yet another noob question as I struggle to come to grips with F360! I am having trouble mirroring a design. should be simple and it was, until now. The design is one quarter of an object so needs to be mirrored about two axes. Mirroring was working fine up a a few revisions ago, and now just get a "cannot compute". Something is preventing or constraining the mirror, but I can't figure it out from the error message! Any suggestions appreciated.

I think the error occurs when mirroring together what can be combined and what cannot be combined.

Component22 is joinable and can be mirrored using the Join option.

This part is a part that cannot be combined, so it is mirrored in the New Body option.

However, for the XZ plane direction, there are bodies that can be joined, so only those bodies are mirrored using the Join option.

Mirror the remaining parts with the New Body option.

This mirrors everything.

I don't know if this mirrors everything, but I think the general procedure would be this way.

I have attached the file just in case.

I very much appreciate you taking the time to look at this. Your explanation is logical and seems to work - but I can only get the mirroring happening "longitudinally" - when I try to mirror on the other plane it doesn't seem to mirror, but sort of copy?Screenshot 2023-02-22 174813.png

I think we need to go into Component22 editing and mirror the Body qtr.

Please see the video of the operation.

Thanks again with persevering with this. This is my first design in F360 and I'm pretty sure that I have not constructed it in the most efficient manner! I followed your video step by step with success! I have no idea why toggling the "Analysis" function off was important, but it worked. 🙂

I just turned off the analysis feature so that I could better see what was mirrored.

The important part is where I activated the component.

And the target to mirror is not Component22, but where you select the Body qtr in it.

If a component is mirrored, it will not be joined.
