Mirror Assemblies for Direct Modelling

Hi,

So the latest update gave us mirrored assemblies for history based modelling, how about those who uses direct based modelling?

Omar,

The last update gave us mirror for components.  We have always had this functionality in direct modeling, as you can pick a components for the objects select.  I have talked with UX and we agreed that we should have the same dialog box for indirect and direct modeling.

What I meant was updating the original part doesn't update the mirrored component.

If I recall, the latest update on mirrored component does this but only in history-based environment (at least in the video it does), but it doesn't seem to work in direct-based

And I still can't mirror assemblies, only individual parts

In direct modeling when you create a component, mirror the component and then change the original the mirror does not update.  This is as designed because direct modeling is not parametric and we do not keep the compute history.  If you copy and paste a component it creates an instance of that component and it will update.  I am not sure what you are referring to as an "assembly", the link below is to a video of mirror working in direct modeling with components inside of components.

Yeah, so when can I expect mirror command to be associative in DM? Can't it work similar to X-Ref where it gives the user the option to break association?

Also, you can only only mirror component and not a group of components, which is another annoying thing.

Copy and paste doesn't really solve the problem.

TBH, is there no development to improve Fusion DM side of things? Right now the workarounds is bearable but it seems no focus or even mention about DM side of things, all the demo videos tend to focus in Timeline.

I remember back then (before all this cloud stuffs in CAD), combining both DM and HM in a single environment is supposed to be the next major step in CAD modelling, and it's understood that most CAD softwares then are not able to fully implement it due to old code base (SolidEdge somehow manages to do it and continues to do remarkable improvements on it, do check out ST9) and that is where Fusion is expected to do different or at least I thought it did especially when Inventor Fusion started off as a DM only CAD

An assembly would mean a component containing components, just like how you demonstrated in the video.

But I'm not even able to select components (5 individual component) to mirror at the same time, so in this case I have to use the mirror command 5 times.
