Midplane outside the two tool planes

Hi

I'm doing the midplane tool and the result is a plane not in the middle of the two tool planes. Has this happened to anyone or knows the solution?

Thanks

Please save your model and attach it to your next Forum post.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

Edit: The reason for this is I cannot replicate your issue and if we had your model, maybe something in it will give the Forum users a hint to what is happening.

are you sure it is outside? The graphics can be deceptive, if the workplane extents are not correct. But, yeah, like @jhackney1972 says, we'd need to see the model to be sure.

@jhackney1972 Unfortunately, it happened during a work session and the file evolved and the planes I used to make this event happen exist no more. If I create two new planes it isn't happening again.

@jeff.strater yes, it was outside, as I created the two planes in the extreme surfaces of a body for this operation and the resultant plane was outside of the said body.

hallo --- is this new?
in the past you could only make a middle area between objects.
two replacement levels do not depict a body - and should it still work there?
but whoever can halve a numerical value should also get a medium area in there.

OK, well, if you can re-create it, let us know.  The other thing that midplane does is allow you to create a midplane between two planes that are not parallel, if so, it creates a "mid-angle" plane:

and this can have some weird results if the two planes are "almost, but not quite parallel".

I've seen some odd stuff like this working with rotated components. Were the planes in different components?

@jeff_straterI did not know that. Thank you!

@HughesToolingI think so, yes! Probably that is the reason.
