Merge Multiple Faces, Chain Merge

I'm trying to merge together multiple faces but having to click them one by one. When using Chain Merge it will merge all faces on the same plane without me having to click them all. However on some surfaces such as in the screenshot attached I've had to click one by one and you can't drag across to select more than one. Is there a way around this or am I stuck clicking one by one ? Also is this a feature that could be added or would it create conflicts when selecting faces across a broad area unless you were able to choose the plane ?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?
