Merge excisting f3d file into new Design Sketch

Hi,

I can't find instructions on Merging.

I have a Sketch all drawn up and saved as a f3d, my plan was to use it in several different Design drawings.

I have a new design already started with "New Design From File" which was save from another CAD program as an .iges.

I would like to bring the saved .f3d into my new design as a "new component" (Rule #1).

How do I do that?

(You can "insert" all kinds of files, but I see no merge option for f3d files).

One way is make sure the sketch is in a component then just Copy and Paste New into your new design. Another option is save the design then drag and drop from the data panel. Last option is use the HTML file I posted here, you'll need to know the full path and file name.

Hi,

You can insert the Sketch f3d file into your new design.  It will come in as a new linked component.  Once placed, you can right click on the new component in the browser and select "Break Link".  This will make it part of the new design (note that any changes you make to the original Sketch f3d will not reflect here since you broke link).  Is this what you are trying to do?  If not, please clarify, perhaps with some images or a screencast.

 The HTML option is interesting and will receive further investigation when time allows.

Drag and Drop worked out fine.
