McMaster-Carr components.

As a new user, I need clarification as to how to retrieve and insert McMaster-Carr components into my design. The instructions I get when clicking on McMaster-Carr components, in the Insert pull-down menu, are a little vague. Especially when it says to select the component file type and click on save.

Once again, as a new user with limited experience of Fusion 360 I may be missing the obvious, but if someone could just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Cedric.

Hey Cedric,

Thanks for posting. You are correct that the instructions in the product could be more clear. We'll try to fix that.

Now let me try to answer your question. To insert a part from McMaster, navigate to the Product Detail page of the part you'd like to insert, and then scroll down on that page until you see a dropdown box with a "Save" button next to it as you see in the attached screenshot. Then select either 3-D STEP or 3-D SAT (I've had more luck with STEP, btw), click save, and the part should be inserted into your file!

Let me know if you have any further questions.
