Making Molds...

Solidworks has very nice tools for very easily making molds from a solid model of the part to be molded.  Is there an easy way to do that in Fusion?  I only need the "plug" side of the mold (for vacuum forming).  I can, of course, export the part into Solidworks, make the plug, then export it back to Fusion, but that would seem like "cheating"...

You should be able to use the Split with surface or Combine-Cut.

Can you attach your *.f3d file here?

How is using the right tool for the job - "cheating"?

Autodesk Inventor has some very nice mold tools too!

Here is a (very) old Fusion example -

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! I would start by checking out this forum thread, which contains some great tips from @HughesTooling on splitting geometry for molds in Fusion!

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions - I'm happy to help!

Thanks, guys!  That's actually very simple, at least for the simple parts I need to do.  Seems much more straight-forward and intuitive than the process in Solidworks.
