Making a mesh

Okay I will keep this short as possible, i need to make a mesh and wrap it around a cylinder, i created a rectangle (simple) but i dont know how i would create a mesh, something with a lot of tiny holes then wrap that around a cylinder, any advice? Also whats the command for measuring the diameter of a cylinder? I'm too new at this.

Create a single sketch. Draw the mesh shape. Use a formula based on the circumference of the cylinder and the number of meshes to dimension the mesh.  Create a Plane on Path using the mesh shape as the base.  Create a sketch on the plane. Draw the profile of the mesh (circular or rectangular, etc.). Use the sweep command to create a single mesh shape. Use the Circular pattern to create one row of meshes around the cylinder. Use the Rectangular pattern to create multiple rows of meshes.
