Making a Male/Female Mold Using An STL File

I am using Fusion 360 version 2.0.4801 on a Windows 10 PC.

I have an STL file of a skateboard deck and I want to make a male and female mold to press the skateboard into shape. Is there a proper workflow to make this happen? I would also like to be able to adjust offsets of the mold to fit 1 to as many as 4 boards in one mold.

Thank you in advance!

First step would be to convert the stl to a brep:

  • Select 'Do not capture Design History' by right clicking on the topmost node in the Browser.
  • Right click on the stl mesh body, then select 'Mesh to BRep'. (Creating as a new component is usually best.)

Position the brep component in the mold body.

Use Combine|Cut (Keep Tools is usually a good idea.) to create the mold cavity.

You can either use a Rectangular pattern to create the cavities for more boards, or you can use a pattern in CAM.
