Making a lid for a curved surface

I just need to make a thin lid for this nose cone which I will 3D print. I tried several techniques such as patching the hole and extruding but it would not let me turn the surface body into a solid one. None have worked for me so far.

did you try Boundary Patch + Thicken?  If you share the model here, there will be a race to see who can provide the first answer for you...

1. watch the screencast

2. follow the timeline > Feature > right click > EDIT see what has been done.
