Maintain appearance of bodies after combine

So basically, I'm trying to make a part out of a laminated sandwich of three layers of wood (think oreo cookie). I'l like to be able to model this part in Fusion360 as a single body, but with different appearances for each of the layers. That way, I can, for example, see what it would look like if I put a roundover on the edges. However, it seems that in order to maintain the distinc appearances, I have to keep each layer as a seperate body, which means I can't do operations such as fillet or chamfer on the whole body. Does anyone know if what I'm trying to do is possible? Thanks

I have machined separate bodies as if they were one body without a problem

I have had trouble selecting contours with separate bodies tho

The only way to do this with a single body is to split faces, and apply an appearance to individual faces.  I understand the desire for a single body for operations such as Chamfer or fillet.
