Loft intersects itself

Hello!

I'm new to this software and I'm trying to design a wave, but it's not working. I can loft the 4 first sections, but when it comes to the last one it says the loft would intersect itself. I tried doing this last one separately or prior to the other ones but nothing worked. Would someone please help me? What does it mean the loft would intersect itself?

Also, is this the ideal way to design what I want? I know it's not gonna be perfect unless I design infinite planes, but is there a way to get close to a good design with just a few planes?

Thank you!

One of the things you might try is to use the loft command (Patch environment) to loft portions of each sketch (by deselecting Chain Selection).  You might have success by going back to each sketch, to see if you can modify so that each sketch has a corresponding 'leg' (for lack of a better term) or 'section' to loft between.  The idea is to keep the loft surface from folding over on itself as the wave stretches.

You can see in the images attached, the beginnings of this process. I hope this is helpful.

You can try lofting this but it is unlikely be a very pleasant experience.

On reason for this is that the curves have breaks/discontinuities in them instead of being one continuous spline.

I would suggest to use these profiles as a visual guideline and use a T-Spline to create the shape.

I looked at the file and boy this a very hard problem for loft to auto crack alone.

the main problem is that the different parts of the wave sketches have different amounts of sketch elements.

you need for something like this ideally less profiles. also while using G1 for some arcs you can see how terrible they look

but even then the twist of the wave will break everything

as peter stated this is a task for Sub-D Modeling or you need better surfacing tools for free form objects Fusion is not made for as a CAD tool

I tried to do many workarounds to get it to work with the other 4 sections but the loft will intersect itself no matter what ...

I guess that the biggest curve needs to be edited, or it won't work

Thank you very much for the quick reply!

I gave up trying it via Loft and tried Spline instead, worked pretty well! Still got some issues while merging two surfaces but after a couple of youtube tutorials I'm pretty sure I'll be able to handle it.

Thank you again!
