Linked Files and Lost references

Hi. Is there a way to get more specific information on where/how a file is linked to another in Fusion? I am currently working on fixture components for my machine, which has its own model.  I am trying to reference the main model into the fixture model for indexing pins, etc. but I am getting a circular dependency warning.  After scouring every component and subcomponent of the model I can find no reference to the main machine except that it is highlighted when I click on the topmost assembly in the manufacturing workspace and shows up in the uses/used in tab in the explorer (as if it were included as a machine model from the library. Any machine def for this machine with a model has been deleted from the machine library).

The linked main machine version is about 20 behind the current version and there is no way to update, unlink, or better understand the nature of this linking.  Ideally, I would unlink and relink the file to keep the ever-changing matrix of index pins on the machine available for future modifications to this fixture. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @pickinben

This is good feedback. I have passed this on to the relevant team.

@pickinben

We understand the difficulty in trying to track down references.  We are looking into potential solutions for this.

For your immediate issue, if a design is listed in the Uses/Used In tab of the Data Panel, then it could also be a "Derive" reference.  For example, if designB has a derive reference to designA (meaning some object or parameter is derived into designB from designA), then you cannot insert designB into designA.  These reference can be deep in the assembly structure also.  I know it's not a solution, but maybe this will help you find the link that's causing the circular reference.
