Limit rotation direction of revolute joint ?

I'm new to Fusion and have been modelling a ratchet and pawl mechanism. I've associated joints and the "pawl" correctly oscillates up/down, falling over the "teeth" as the ratchet wheel rotates. I used a contact set to achieve this. However, the revolute joint (Rev5) can rotate in both directions; which would not be possible in the real world.

Is it possible to restrict this joint to rotate only in a counter-clockwise direction?

Hello @adj.harpur

I am just trying understand the query better. I can understand one motion of the pawl in counterclockwise direction when a tooth pushes it. But once the tooth is passed the pawl has to come back to it's original position by moving in clockwise direction. So pawl needs to move both ways.

The constraints for the movements in general can be handle through Joint->Right click->Edit Joint Limits.

Can you please share the screencast video so that we can help you better?

Thank you,

Best Regards

For this mechanism to work you need Gravity or a Spring Force.

I think you will need Autodesk Inventor Professional>Dynamic Simulation to get this to work.
