Leader Command with out the tale

I have noticed, after recent update the leader command has changed in the drawing template, It only gives arrow on straight line without the tale part compared to the normal sketch environment. Just wondering if someone has experienced this and if there is a way around this?

 Hey @brume77

The leader in the sketch command is different from creating a leader note from the text area. This hasn't changed in any recent updates.

Thanks,

I was able to use the basic sketch environment as a work around for none edge images that I imported to the drawing work space and use the leader to label it,  and was able to write text or number on the leader's tail where I can type the number or text label. Please see the attached photo. Now, I dont know how to get that back or if the feature has been disabled?

As the workaround, you can add another new line at the end point of leader in drawing sketch, which is to draw the "tail". Checking the leader of drawing sketch in old build, we do not find there is any change, comparing with current behavior. Thanks

Hi, I understand the work around can work, but I didnt need to do that before, It worked like a normal leader, the tail part can be extended by dragging by an arrow, please see the attached photo and I have circled it with red circle. And that was a drawing using a fusion 360 before it became fusion. I am not sure, if I had a add on or some setting but I cant seems to get the same behaviour.

As Fred mentioned this is the consistent behavior. It's possible you had a plug in but this isn't something we control. The way to achieve what you're after is the leader note in the text area. Is there a reason you don't want to use this command?
I have taken note of the request to have the leader in sketch behave the same as the leader note.

The leader in the drawing environment only attaches / snap to the edge of a drawing, which is fine when you have a drawing to work with. When a image or photos are imported in to the drawing environment the leader does not attach to anything as it can not find a edge to attach / snap to, so the work around is to get a leader from the sketch contextual environment, this enable the leader to be placed on any surface of the image / photo, well this is what I've found that worked for me, and I put my hands up, I dont know how I got it work in the past, when I was just playing around as a new user ( I am still learning about fusion). Now, came back to do some work, the sketch contextual environment just gives me a leader with arrow and no tail. The work around I found works also, is to copy the leader from old drawing and copy and paste in to the new sketch drawing. Please see the attached photo. I labelled it as "Test".

You, mentioned that, this is possible from a "text area"? I dont know which is a text area and how to I get it work with image / photos?

I appreciated that you will look in to improving the sketch contextual environment (if thats whats it called), I have googled a lot to get some understanding of different environment and workspace and still not clear which is which. The issue i have, is when working in the template area, then use the sketch tool, and seems like a problem on the other tools, cant put a dimension to a circle. I will create a different thread for that.

My apologies you mentioned before you had no snap point. I think the leader with the line in sketch is your best workflow currently.
This image shows what I was referring to by text area. This will be the leader that needs a snap point.

Thanks for your feedback. Wish I had a better currently solution for you.
