Keeping bevel parallel to edge

I'm trying to model some Japanese knives to try and machine the bevels rather than grinding just for fun. Anyone know how to get the shinogi (bevel) parallel to the edge. Not sure how to account for the distal taper.

The top has the distal taper and changes the bevel. No longer parallel to the bottom edge

with the current blank geometry (ie tapered in thickness from tip to hilt) they only way to achieve what you're asking would be to change the grind angle, reducing it as you approach the tip.  I assume that would be undesirable.

Hi,

The easiest way to get a line parallel to the edge is to simply use the offset command and then trim it down to what

you want.

Now you have a line parallel to the edge to use for your taper.

Further question. Why didn't you use a symmetric extrude along the origin plane for your first extrusion instead of

creating a mid-plane? I also could not work out why or what you actually moved. Move should only be used in rare

circumstances and as a last resort.

Cheers

Andrew

Loft works quite well:

p.s. The changes are in the parent component instead of the sub component because I was lazy😁  Don't do it that way.

p.s.p.s As @laughingcreek  says: You can't have the same angle and a parallel bevel at the same time.  You need to choose one or the other.

More sources to learn from the better.  Also being able to share the model easier.

I guess I got a bit lazy. I tried moving stuff just to see if it would look like what Im going for visually at this point

Thank you for sharing the model. Being shown sinks in fast for me. Much appreciated. I need to step up my CAD etiquette
