Is there a way to turn a feature off via parameters or other than time timeline?

Hello -

I'm a big fan of parameters and have a design where there may be an "optional" feature that is subsequently patterned via the pattern-features command.  What I am wondering is, is there some way to have the ability to have a pattern with "0" instances?  i.e. a way to both turn the original feature off, as well as not pattern it?  I may be asking for something that is a chicken/egg dilemna but figured I' ask anyway.

I have a little parts tray that has grooves in it - the number of grooves and the length/ width are all controlled via parameters and the grooves center up on the face automatically when you alter any parameters.  This is great.  But - there's a situation where it might be good to define compartments in the grooves via little dividers so that you can break the grooves up into 2, 3, 4 etc, sections. At the moment the only option that I can see is to create a centered divider in the grooves and then hunt back in the timeline if I want to have 0 dividers and suppress that feature.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

Hi,

here is a list of parameters.

To my knowledge there is no possibility in Fusion to suppress features like in Inventor per if .. conditionally.

Gunther - Thanks for the info.  I sort of suspected this, but at least I know for sure now.  I can hack my way along.  Also - thanks for that link - I was digging the other day looking for a list of expressions, functions etc. that can go into parameters and could not find it.

Cheers,

Lewis

Hi Mrs, Mr, IRobot LHC_52

If you find it worthwhile, you might consider writing probably not a difficult script, which based upon specified UserParam will switch on/off required Feature. You can utilize the following API:

isSuppressed Gets and sets if this feature is suppressed. This is only valid for parametric features.

Can you post your F3D file? I bet there's a way to make it work without having to go back in your timeline.

using the configuration was one solution for suppressing certain features I guess

Hi,

We are currently working on functionality in Configurations to allow for users to define such rules/logic.
