Is it possible to half the size of a design including the historical timeline?

I'm fairly new to 360 but loving it. 🙂

I have a design I have been working on (for 3D printing) for a few weeks and due to changes required to print it (and the size of some metal bars I can get hold off) I want to half it's size but I don't want to just re-size it at the end of the timeline as when I make changes to widths of a bar for example from the beginning of the timeline (say I wanted to tweak the height of the first shape I created and have it effect the whole design) I would need to calculate the size it would have been before the half(ish) resize..

So... is it possible to say that every 1mm (it's units are currently mm) are now 0.5mm or 0.4mm and have it so all the canvases, bodies, sketches etc all pick up the new size as if I designed it that way from the start?

Then when I go to change the height or bevel of something from early on in it's design I can put in the exact size I want it to be in the final design.

Hi Gaz,

 

Without seeing the design i can't comment. But one thing to consider when creating a model is to actually reference existing sketch dimensions. That way for example If I draw this rudimentary U shape in the picture I can then use the "60.00" (d1) as the dimension that everything is referencing.

 

For example the "fx: 60.00" is actually looking at the "60.00" dimension and it will always be the same. So for example if I update the "60.00" to "85.00" then the height of the left part of the 'U' shape will update to be "fx: 85.00". 

 

You can use all normal equations to get required results. So for exmaple you can see at the top I am going to make the width of this part 1/3 of the overall width. To referecne a dimension you just click on it then use your normal + - * / to get an equation.

 

Then if you have this issue again you can hopefully go back update one dimension and everything updates. Parametrics at it's best 😄

 

I don't know of any 'quick-fix' for your question though I'm afraid.

The route I have taken (or started to take) is to go back to the start of the timeline and updated all the sizes one by one to be a reference of a parameter (that is currently 100) so "Full * 0.08" for 8mm etc...
Then I can easily update the 100 (which happens to be the width in mm currently) to so 50 to half the size and 200 to double it.

Not idea as I still have to convert to the smaller size but it will do for now. 🙂
