Is it possible to change how many viewports there are?

Default is 4 but sometimes I only want 2. Is there a way to change this?

No, it's not possible. You can make 2 views appear larger by simply changing their sizes.

I wish I could have 3 smallish ones down one side and a large primary one on the other side.  that's how I setup other graphic software I use.
